Beginning to explore Vienna: Coming to terms with the largest crimes in the history of Vienna and Austria - (any Jewish asset was robbed: through "arianization" Jewish property was expropriated or purchased by individual at low prices, both as famous as Sigmund Freud or as modest as a shoemaker or homemaker were victims. 140. 000 Austrians Jews had to flee the country for "racial reasons"; 65, 000 who could not escape were murdered) - has lasted decades and is still an ongoing procedure. When confronted with the three questions on my tour: how could such a crime ever have happened, what has gone wrong. How is the situation today. My answer comes with a perspective in three dimensions. I'm grateful for my education as translator and interpreter that enables the understanding in this complex topic. I am proud for my intercultural background and my role as an independent observer with the "bird's eye view". I look forward to our walking conversation while passing by the major sites, if you would allow me to.
