Tour guide in Tokyo Ken T.

Hi! I am Kentaro (or "Ken"), born and raised in central Tokyo. After 10 years in the container shipping industry, I started working as a tour guide back in 2015 at a time when the city was getting excited about being awarded the 2020 Olympics. My tour guiding focuses on central Tokyo and use the excellent public transportation system - perhaps one of the most efficient in the entire world. Not only is it the best way to quickly get around the city, it also gives you a good view of the way of life for locals living in Tokyo. After doing a tour with me, you should feel a lot more confident in being able to navigate the city on your own. I also want to add value to the tour by introducing areas not usually visited by tourists. During my time off, I also like to travel internationally just like you; I've done many visits to various European nations as well as all 10 member states of ASEAN. Some of my tour content is inspired from my own experience of traveling. When I am not on the road, I like to attend sumo matches whenever I can manage to get tickets (Getting very difficult these days). Before the pandemic, I had the opportunity to work on a project with a few retired sumo wrestlers and that experience allowed me to gain extensive knowledge of this sport which I would love to share with you in some of my sumo-themed tours. Most of the tours I deliver follow the pre-determined theme and itinerary that is published on this website but I am open to customizing certain parts of the tour. My aim is to provide a good alternative to an organized bus tour, with the better opportunity to ask the guide about any questions regarding Tokyo and Japan. I look forward to seeing you in Tokyo! ---Qualifications--- Working as tour guide since 2015 National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (2012) Domestic Travel Service Supervisor (2020) ---Transportation--- Tours are provided with the combination of walking and use of public transport. I do not offer the option of using a private vehicle. ---Restriction--- Due to my other work, I cannot do tours that would span multiple dates.
